A Scenic Elopement / Small Wedding Option in Virginia
A Scenic Elopement / Small Wedding Option in Virginia with Breath-Taking Views
One of my most popular venue choices for elopements and small weddings is Shenandoah National Park. Featuring amazing views of the mountains surrounded by forests with abundant wildlife, Shenandoah National Park is the go-to place if you want to get married with a mountain backdrop. I meet my couples at one of the northern overlook points in the park (towards the Front Royal, VA entrance point) and have performed and photographed weddings there with up 10 guests (if you plan on having more than 10 guests, you will need to coordinate directly with Shenandoah National Park to schedule your wedding and reserve a place to do so).
NOTES ABOUT GETTING MARRIED AT SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK: In using Shenandoah National Park (SNP) for your elopement / wedding, you accept that you are doing so “at your own risk”. I am in no way affiliated with SNP, and you ARE NOT reserving SNP as a venue, but using it as a public park for your wedding.
What I mean by this is that SNP does not make special accommodations or allow the renting of any rooms, buildings, or spaces unless you contact them directly. In addition, chairs, tables, or other decorations may NOT be used or setup. Also items such as rice and confetti are strictly prohibited. Finally, you should plan to arrive dressed in your wedding attire as there is no dressing room on-site, only public restrooms.
Please note there is an entry fee to enter the park (between $20-$30 depending on the time of year). Due to the nature of this location in the deep woods, be aware that gnats / mosquitoes can sometimes be present during the warm weather months, so please use bug spray ahead of time if this is of concern. During the spring, fall and winter the weather can be very unpredictable due to high elevations, and it can sometimes be very windy and cold, so please plan accordingly and bring warm coats, hats, and gloves if needed.
Check out my photo gallery below showing a select sample of a few of my many clients whom have used Shenandoah National Park for their elopement or small wedding. If this amazing location looks like a perfect fit for you, contact me today, and let me help you get started planning your elopement!
