A Small Wedding in Berryville, VA at Holy Cross Abbey

Shortly after Thanksgiving I received an inquiry from Stephanie B. requesting the officiating and photography of a unique small wedding to be held shortly after Christmas. Stephanie informed me that even though her and her fiancé Max live in Boston, they wanted to have a very short and small wedding ceremony in Virginia. The reason behind her request was that her dear uncle could no longer get around and travel that well. Being that he is also a retired monk at the Holy Cross Abbey monastery in Berryville, VA, she wanted to bring the wedding to him and get married at the monastery.

After I was assured that it would be a non-denominational civil ceremony and was approved by Holy Cross Abbey, I welcomed the request! I married Max and Stephanie shortly after Christmas in a short ceremony on a Tuesday afternoon in front of family and a couple of close friends. Holy Cross Abbey then allowed us to take photographs on and around their vast property of beautiful farm fields and land.

I would also like to extend as special thank you to Fr. James for being so welcoming to me during my short visit there.

“Aaron was wonderful and sensitive to our needs. It was great to have an officiant who was open to our ideas and helped guide us through. The photos he took were online the next day and are beautiful! We highly recommend him!” – Marsha B. (Mother of the Bride)
