Eloping with a Very Small Family Wedding in Virginia

Trey and Megan made the decision that they wanted to get married in a small civil ceremony with only a few family members present. They knew how to get their marriage license, but were unsure how to proceed further when they contacted me for help.

Blandy Experimental Farm in Boyce, VA is one of my top outdoor venues that I recommend to couples looking for a scenic spot for a small simple wedding. Blandy (also known as the State Arboretum of Virginia), is an incredible asset to our local community. From Blandy’s own website, “‘with its picturesque views and wide open spaces, the State Arboretum of Virginia at Blandy Experimental Farm is a unique and beautiful setting for weddings.” They also kindly offer their facilities free of charge, though I always encourage my couples to make a donation when possible.

Both Trey and Megan agreed that Blandy Farm would be a perfect place for their small wedding ceremony. We met there on a late December afternoon and the weather cooperated by being overcast and pleasant.

“We wanted to thank you again for making this all happen! We love the photos!” – Trey and Megan
