Scenic Locations to Elope in Virginia: Married on a Mountain
If you are looking for a scenic location to get married at in Virginia, even if you are coming from out of state, Shenandoah National Park is hard to beat in terms of stunning views. Ryan and Marielys came from Charlotte, NC to get married in the park at a mountain overlook early one September morning. On my drive to the mountain, it was quite cloudy and I was concerned that it would block our view from the overlook. However the clouds and mist had begun to dissipate by the time they began to exchange their vows, creating a mystical, magical setting for their elopement.
A week or so after they were married, Marielys also shared this amazing story with me about their wedding day (which she gave me permission to share):
My wedding day was unforgettable, for many reasons. Just wanted to share a unique story of our wedding day with you! Ryan and I are both physicians, thus, our life (and time) is often dedicated for the most part in caring for others. We have very little time to ourselves.
I was working in the ICU night shift and looking for elopement ideas and that’s when I stumbled onto your site in Virginia. I emailed you immediately to see if you had time available. Once you said yes, I decided that would be the day we would get married. We rarely get time off. Why not choose the days off for something special for the two of us?
The day in which we were married, you captured everything that we wanted to be captured in our photographs. Once we were done with pictures and we changed onto our hiking clothes, shortly thereafter, there was a horrible car accident where two people were injured. Ryan and I helped while awaiting for the EMS. I would say we were in the right place and time.
We still worked on our wedding day (haha) but we were able to cherish some time together and you were able to capture this in your beautiful photography.
