Elope at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia
Couples who want to get married sometimes dream of saying their “I dos” on a mountain top overlooking scenic valley in a majestic setting, but quickly dismiss the idea as wishful thinking. The truth is it can easily be done in the state of Virginia!
Zhewar and Nzhwa live in the northern Virginia area close to D.C. and contacted me to see if it was possible to get married in the scenic mountains. They were unsure as to how realistic of a request it was, but I assured them it was easily done. All they needed was their marriage license, and once they had that, they could meet me in the scenic Shenandoah National Park where I know of several breath-taking spots perfect for a small elopement wedding.
The park can be very crowded during the late summer / fall months on a weekend, so I usually suggest meeting there during the week. Zhewar and Nzhwa chose an early Thursday morning when hardly anyone else was around, and I married them in a small, simple ceremony with just the two of them present. Then we spent some time taking photographs in a variety of areas close by in Shenandoah National Park.
