Elope in Historic Old Town Winchester Virginia
The convenience of getting married in Winchester, Virginia is unmatched. Not only is it incredible easy to get your marriage license within 30 minutes, but Old Town Winchester which is only a block away from the courthouse is the centerpiece of the town. Not only can you get married here easily, but you can plan a whole week or weekend getaway out of it.
Bill and Cheri did exactly that. Coming from out of state, they stayed at the historic George Washington Hotel. When they were ready to get their marriage license, they simply walked a few blocks down the street to the courthouse and spent only 20-30 minutes completing the quick marriage license application and receiving their official license. Then they met me right across the street at the scenic center of Old Town Winchester where I married them in the public courtyard on a lovely spring day. Having opted for a photo package too, we then spent the next 20 minutes or so taking some photos in and around the nearby scenic buildings. To wrap it up, I immediately filed their marriage license with the court where they obtained their certified copies, and then spent the rest of the day celebrating in and around Old Town.
So to recap…you can stay in a nice hotel, get your marriage license right down the road, get married and have photos taken in a wonderfully scenic area, and receive your official marriage license paperwork all within a few blocks of one another. I don’t think it is possible for an elopement getaway to be any more convenient than that!
